INTERVIEW

Tru3 Riot's Interview with Kellie B from Heat For The Streets

Tru2 Riot's Tru3 R

They said “Don’t write your own bio” I said “Why the hell not?”.  For the first time I’m ready to open up to my listeners.  See I don’t have a war story about the projects and street life filled with gangs and drugs… most certainly I have been affiliated with this short list and then some but all through the struggle I have found refuge in lyrics.  Growing up I was always moving around and never settled in one place for too long. So I went to 4 high schools lived in all five boro’s and even went to school in Elmont, Long Island, so I have had the best of both worlds.  I was exposed at an early age and that’s the best way to explain my rebellious nature.  All though I do not rebel in vain I rebel for the sake of life.  On this journey I have noticed that not everyone is living…. Some just fall in line like toy soldiers. Not me, I cannot be wound up and sent off into this world to meet the standards and live by statistics of society.  I find that I no longer want to emphasize on the darkness in my life because I intend to light up the darkness…

At the tender age of eight I began playing the piano. At nine I was a published author in the”Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans”. The name f this poem was “Dreams” a fourth grade homework assignment inspired by black history month. My teacher saw its potential and believed it held great meaning from a nine year old.  She was right, and from then on I knew I wasn’t going to be like my peers. I was born to be different, rebellious by nature.  At thirteen a friend suggested that I put my words to a beat, which would make them lyrics. Oh boy, the world had something coming to them because I was ready.  With hunger and fire in my eyes bumping the sounds of 2Pac, Eminem, Nas, Cassidy, Fabolous, Lupe Fiasco and so much more… I became a punch line queen leaving my small audience of friends amazed at the end of each bar. With that said I decided to take this music thing a step further. I took my toe out of the pool and back flipped off the diving board into the bottomless pool of music. This was it, this was me.

I began to play with all sorts of instruments from mastering the piano even more, to the guitars acoustic, electric, five strings and bases. Everything musical set me free… I fell in love with Ne-Yo. He is a genius. Enough said he motivated me to learn how to produce my own music.  When I was 15 slowly but surely I began networking with everyone in my neighborhood and it wasn’t long before I was free styling in the Bronx in Magenta Park with a group of guys. Unbeknownst to me I was conversing with the man that would later be my manager four years down the line. After a drastic turn of events that lead me to live independently in NYC with my 2 year old son Ethan I am a young woman and well seasoned veteran in this rap game and I'm more than ready to raise the bar and challenge ever one to get it together and make hip hop better.

As of September  2010, I am currently signed to Hydra Management Records and managed by Hydra Management Services. I'm ready to introduce a revolution  taking the game by rebellion.  Young body, advanced mind, Old Soul.  In a bag of coins I’m the only brown penny.... and when all these other heads face life from the same angle I’m the only one viewing it 180 degrees opposite... that’s what makes me so tru3... it may even start a riot... A Tru3 RioT!
